On Wednesday, New York-based Etsy Inc. experienced a decline in its stock value following the announcement of a significant workforce reduction. The online marketplace, known for its unique handcrafted items, is making this move in response to a decrease in consumer demand.

The company plans to let go of 225 employees, which represents about 11% of its entire workforce. Etsy disclosed in its regulatory filings that this decision will lead to financial expenses ranging from $25 million to $30 million, covering severance payouts, employee benefits, and other associated costs.

In addition to these layoffs, Etsy is undergoing several structural changes, which include the exit of multiple key executives. Among them is Ryan Scott, who served as the Chief Marketing Officer. After these reductions, Etsy's total employee count will be approximately 1,770.

Yesterday, members of the United States House of Representatives cast their votes largely along partisan lines, endorsing an investigation into allegations of financial impropriety by President Joe Biden. This decision gives official status to an inquiry that was initiated in September by the then-Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Republican, representing California's 20th district), but which had seen little progress in recent times.

Republican representatives have leveled accusations against President Biden and his family, including his son Hunter Biden, alleging they leveraged his former role as Vice President during President Obama's tenure for personal gain. In particular, Devon Archer, who previously partnered with Hunter Biden in business, provided testimony stating that Joe Biden was occasionally included via speakerphone in discussions with overseas business contacts, although Archer also clarified that he was unaware of any illegal activities. Additionally, a claim surfaced in July, not yet corroborated, suggesting that Burisma, a Ukrainian energy firm, was involved in a bribery plot targeting the Bidens.

The extent of the mother's discomfort is influenced by both the quantity of the hormone generated by the fetus and her prior exposure to GDF15 before pregnancy.

This breakthrough suggests a possible preventative approach: increasing a mother's exposure to GDF15 before pregnancy to enhance her tolerance.

Nausea and vomiting impact up to 70% of pregnancies. For a small percentage of women, approximately 1% to 3% of all pregnancies, this condition can escalate to hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of pregnancy sickness. This extreme version can pose life-threatening risks to both the fetus and the mother, often necessitating hospitalization for intravenous hydration to combat critical dehydration levels. Hyperemesis gravidarum is the leading reason for hospital admissions among women in the first trimester of pregnancy.
